I wish someone told me this sooner

I first started lifting weights at the age of 15, and I had no idea what I was doing.

I didn’t know how to brace properly. I didn’t know what “progressive overload” meant. And I definitely didn’t know how to tell if an exercise was working for me or not. I was just trying things, hoping they would stick.

Some of it was a mess. Actually, most of it was.

But I kept showing up. I didn’t wait for the perfect plan or the perfect time. I trained anyway. I made mistakes. I fixed them. I kept learning.

That’s when things actually started to click. Not because I had it all figured out. But because I had something to work with. Something real. Something I could improve.

Too many people waste months, sometimes years, trying to get it “right” in their head before they ever take a step. They think they need to feel confident first. Or prepared. Or perfect. But it doesn’t work like that.

You don’t build confidence by waiting. You build it by doing.

You get better by trying, by failing, and by paying attention. You screw it up, you fix it, and that’s how progress happens.

It doesn’t need to be polished. It just needs to exist.

You can always make it better. But you can’t fix something that never got started.

So if you’re stuck, hesitating, overthinking every little detail, stop. Do something. Anything.

Even if it’s messy. Even if it feels average. That first version is supposed to suck.

Make it exist. Then make it good.

That’s how you get better. That’s how you grow. That’s how this works.
