There was a woman in my Strong Not Skinny Inner Circle last year who was absolutely crushing it.
Hitting her lifts, ticking off her workouts, eating solid, feeling strong.
Then life punched her in the gut, family drama, work stress, a few sleepless nights, and everything felt like it came undone.
She messaged me saying, “I feel like I’m going backwards.” But she wasn’t.
She was just in the part of the story no one wants to talk about, the hard bit. The messy middle. The part where it’s easy to stop and feel sorry for yourself. But that’s not what she did.
She kept showing up, even if it was only for a 30 minute workout. And a few months later, she was even stronger than before.
Every successful person I’ve ever met has had their rough patch. Not one of them avoided hard times. Not one.
And at some point, I stopped fighting the hard times and started seeing them for what they are, training.
Training for the next level.
Training for what’s coming next.
You don’t have to love it. You just have to get through it.
When things get tough, you don’t sit in it. You don’t wait for perfect conditions. You remind yourself, “This is part of it. This is the training that will make me great.”
Because on the other side of it, you’ll be stronger than before, and not just in the gym.
