Dealing With Negative Comments

I got a DM last week that read, “You’re mansplaining lifting like we haven’t heard this a million times before.”

No context. No emojis. Just that.

It wasn’t the first. Won’t be the last.

When you post online every day, especially in fitness, people come for you.

They’ll comment on your body.

Pick apart your technique.

Question your intentions.

But over the years, I’ve learned to laugh it off. Because I keep coming back to this quote:

“Someone who’s genuinely happy with their own life will not have the time or desire to focus their energy into speaking negatively about yours.”

That one line hits hard. Because it’s true.

People who are content, confident, and focused on their goals aren’t out here tearing others down. They’re too busy building.

This applies to you too.

If someone’s been snide about your gym progress…

If a “friend” keeps jabbing at your food choices…

If a stranger throws shade online…

That’s not about you. That’s about them.

You’re showing up. You’re trying. You’re changing.

And that triggers people who aren’t.

So remember, you don’t owe anyone an explanation. You don’t need their approval. And you sure as hell don’t need to shrink yourself to make someone else feel comfortable.

Keep going.

Keep lifting.

Keep doing it for you.

I’ll be here doing the same.

By the way, whenever you’re ready, here’s 3 more ways I can help you:
